According to my 2007’s post “The new mobile era” Google and Apple were going to make it in the mobile computing business. A couple of years later that prophecy (not too hard to imagine, indeed…) is supported by facts and numbers. Read the rest of this entry »

The web is full of speculations on the next Apple invention. Please note I didn’t write product but invention.

Yes, because they are going to invent something new that doesn’t exist yet.
A whole new paradigm with a new business model annexed. Read the rest of this entry »

U2 – No line on the Horizon

Posted: February 23rd, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: music | Tags: , | No Comments »

U2I happened to listen to the new U2 album: No line on the Horizon.
It is definetly an Eno & Lanois production.
More accurately some tracks as “Unknown caller” are written by U2 and by the two mentioned producers.

I enjoyed the new album and I quote it as their best in a long time. All tracks sound as well played and produced: rock songs with a good balance between guitar and all the “enotronics” (pad, effects, loops, etc…). Drumming and voices are also well arranged and enjoyable to listen to.

Letter From Steve Jobs

Posted: January 15th, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Apple, Steve Jobs | Tags: , | No Comments »

From the Apple Media Advisory:

————————-

Juanuary 14, 2008

Apple CEO Steve Jobs today sent the following email to all Apple employees:

Team,

I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my family, but everyone else at Apple as well. In addition, during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought.

In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.

I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for Apple’s day to day operations, and I know he and the rest of the executive management team will do a great job. As CEO, I plan to remain involved in major strategic decisions while I am out. Our board of directors fully supports this plan.

I look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

Steve

Do humans dream of electric cars?

The fuel combustion engine is an obsolete technology. Its days are numbered. Green tech will replace it bringing to the market a new green economy.

Is the electric engine its natural replacement?

Today opens in Detroit the North American International Auto Show, for sure less exuberant, due to an USA car industry on the edge of bankruptcy, but certainly inspired by a new hope for change brought by the forthcoming Obama’s presidency. Read the rest of this entry »

00100 pizza & trapizzini
via giovanni branca, 88
Testaccio, Rome
Monday – Saturday 12:00AM – 10:00PM
————————————————
When in Rome, “pizza a taglio” is the typical street food that you’ll find at every corner. Pizza a taglio in Rome is an art and Pizzarium (via della Meloria, 43 Rome) is where this art is best delivered by its master: Gabriele Bonci.

But, now, I am glad to announce that a new street food is born and it is super: Ladies and Gentlemen, the Trapizzini’s!

00100 is the name of a new place in Testaccio where, beside an excellent Pizza a Taglio, you will find Trapizzini. Read the rest of this entry »

When in Rome eat as the romans do…

Even though the old “adagio” goes: “when in Rome eat as the romans do”, do not expect anymore to find them eating amatriciana & carbonara every day.

Despite the recent right-wing party success at the national and municipal election held in April and the consequent raising sentiments of intollerance directed to immigrants and clandestines, the Eternal City is little by little being conquered by new culinary tendences represented by an unexpected appetite for Indian, Japanese and Middle East cuisine. iPhone in Italy

Posted: May 6th, 2008 | Author: admin | Filed under: Apple, Telecom Italia, Vodafone, iPhone | No Comments »

Quoting its own press release: “Vodafone today announced it has signed an agreement with Apple to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the globe. Later this year, Vodafone customers in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey will be able to purchase the iPhone for use on the Vodafone network.”

Also this morning Telecom Italia has released the following statement: “Telecom Italia announced today it has signed a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Italy later this year.”

No doubts that we’re talking about the 3G iPhone.

Still remains to understand:

1) when? (end of June?)

2) locked or unlocked?

Investigations are in progress…
